Rubbish is teaming up with The SWEEP Standard to help create the future of sustainable solid waste management.
It’s an honor to work with Robert Watson and the dynamic team behind SWEEP. Rob is a leader in the international green building movement. Prior to starting SWEEP, he founded LEED at the U.S. Green Building Council, the standard for green building certification used worldwide.
In the footsteps of LEED, SWEEP aims to define a standard of excellence for solid waste management and reward those spearheading implementation of sustainable practices, like cities and recycling plants.
Rubbish now enables municipalities and industry to gain SWEEP Certification credits via litter audits and the implementation of IoT technology that helps remove litter from our urban environment. Many already qualify for these credits thanks to the hard work of community leaders who use Rubbish to clean up their neighborhood, like University of Pennsylvania, City of Redwood City, SOMA West Community Benefit District, and The River District.
In addition to helping communities earn SWEEP certification, Rubbish is actively contributing to the SWEEP Standard in the areas of litter abatement and innovation.
We still have a long road ahead toward an environmentally restorative society, but with partners like SWEEP, I believe we can get there.
